Bio
Benjamin Kolpa is a seasoned investment professional with extensive experience in public and private markets. He served as Managing Director at Vulcan Capital, the family office of Paul Allen, from 2006 to 2020. During his tenure, he founded and managed the public markets business, overseeing private and public credit as well as special situations and distressed investment portfolios. He was also a member of the Investment Committee for Private Equity, Real Estate, Growth, and Venture investments.
Before joining Vulcan Capital, Mr. Kolpa was a Director and portfolio manager at an alternative asset management platform acquired by BlackRock. He began his career in the Merrill Lynch investment banking program, later holding roles at HSBC and Deutsche Bank in derivatives trading and statistical arbitrage.
Mr. Kolpa has served on the advisory boards of a middle-market debt Special Situations Fund, a global distressed fund, and a middle-market private real estate fund.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University's Chemical Engineering School and a Master of Science in Mathematics and Finance from New York University Stern School of Business. Additionally, he completed executive education at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and holds the CFA designation.
